= Netfilter Workshop HOWTO = * Author: Pablo Neira Ayuso * Date: 21/Oct/2014 == Tasks == === Infrastructure === 1) Settle down dates and place: * Avoid overlap with other major conferences (LinuxCon, Plumbers, Kernel summit, etc). * Find fresh room for 25 people maximum with projector and water. Ping some university? 2) Launch website: Include dates, location and initial information. 3) Find someone that can do some nice poster / artwork for the workshop. 4) Find hotel for attendees. You can reach a good deal if you guarantee a group that is large enough. 5) Find place for meals / dinners. Allow better to agree this in advance, you can get cheaper / better quality. 6) Organize leisure time activities. === Sponsors === 1) Contact sponsors / send them "call for sponsors" document. 2) If they agree to sponsor. Request logo (better vectorial format for t-shirts). 3) Make sure sponsors flush the money in time. === Attendees === 1) Make list of invited developers. Send invitation email for developers. Set soft deadline to confirm participation. Basic questions in form: * Would you like to attend?: ACK / NACK. * Requests travel assistance? If so, estimation of required money. * Hotel preference?: Single / Shared room with xyz. * Number of nights. * Would you attend the user days? * Would you present anything at the user days? * Any restriction with meals? * Further Comments? 2) Add invited people that have acked to netfilter-workshop mailing list. === Schedule === 0) Define tentative tracks / timeslot configuration. 1) Send call for participation. Indicate some deadline to send proposals. Title, description and estimated time at least. Don't forget to ping sponsors. Proposal for user day or developer meeting? 2) Elaborate proposed schedule. === Budget === 1) Elaborate budget spreadsheet. + Money from sponsors - hotel/travel/meals costs 2) Make sure we stick to budget :-). -EOF-
